Posting Pews News

Getting Ready

Follow these steps exactly – it takes a minute or two once you’ve done it once.

This example is written as if you’re publishing Pews News for 03 May 2026. Please adjust accordingly for other dates.

Please name the Pews News PDF as follows: Pews News YYYY-MM-DD.pdf adding the date of the coming Sunday, e.g. “Pews News 2026-05-03.pdf”.

Login to the website’s authoring page: https://parishofchingford.org.uk/wp-admin using the credentials supplied by Sam in IT.

1. Create the Post
   1. Press “New” in the menu bar, then “Post”.
   2. Set the title to “Pews News 3rd May 2026”.
2. Setings the featured image that appears above each post
   1. In the RHS, click “Post”.
   2. Click “Set Featured Image”, select the “Parish-of-Chingford-Logo.png” from the Media Library.
3. Set the date when the post will be published
   1. Click “Publish” and select 3rd May 2026 and 08:00 in the date picker.
4. Set the post’s category
   1. Expand the Categories section and select the “Pews News” category.
5. Set the featured images opacity so it looks nice
   1. Under Options section, select 20% in Banner Image Opacity.
6. Embed the PDF
   1. In “Type / to choose a block”, type a “/” and then type “PDF”, selecting PDF Embedder from the list.
   2. Click on “Media Library” button.
   3. Click on the “Upload Files” tab and then “Select Files” button.
   4. Find the Pews News PDF you saved earlier, Click the “Select” button.
7. Add the PDF Link
   1. In “Type / to choose a block”, type “Click here to download this weeks Pews News”.
   2. Highlight the word “here” in the new paragraph.
   3. Click the hyperlink button.
   4. Type “Pews News 2026-05-03” to select this weeks Pews News.
   5. Click the “pencil” button and click “Open in new tab” within the Advanced section. Press the “Apply” button.
8. Publish!
   1. Click the “Schedule” button (upper right of window).
   2. The post will appear on the website on the scheduled date and time.

Congratulations, the Pews News is now scheduled.
