Environmental Statement

Environmental Statement

For many years the Parish of Chingford has taken its responsibility to care for the environment seriously, and we are now setting out to approach this in a methodical and measured way by participating in the Eco Church project. Details of the Eco Church project can be found here.

This page will be updated from time to time with details of our progress with the project.

A similar methodical and measured approach for individual households wishing to care for the environment more seriously is provided by the Creation Care project. Details of this can be found here.

Produced by the Diocesan Environmental Group, a booklet looking at ways churches can work towards net-zero can be found here: The Fifth Mark of Mission

This is all in support of General Synod pledge that the Church of England overall will not be emitting greenhouse gases by 2030.

In addition to our responsibility as a church, each and every one of us has a responsibility to care for the environment. There are many suggestions for ways to do this on the Green Christian website here.

Further thoughts on ways in which we can help to preserve the environment are available on the Chelmsford Diocesan Website.
