Jack Petchey Environmental Award

Jack Petchey Environmental Award

Last July, Orry Woodhouse (one of our loyal group of young choirmen) organised a sponsored litter pick in our beautiful Epping Forest, raising a fantastic £335 for the choir. More than 20 people enjoyed ambling around the Plains on a sunny afternoon, collecting over a dozen bags of rubbish! Orry’s initiative was recognised with a Jack Petchey Environmental Award, along with a £300 grant. This has since been used to purchase gardening tools, recently presented to Kristian, to support the upkeep of the church grounds.

Building on last year’s success, Henry Huggins is organising this year’s litter
pick on Chingford Plain on 7th June. You are warmly invited to take part or to
sponsor those involved, helping to raise further funds for the choir. Please speak
to Henry or Aleta to sign up or find out more. We hope the event will once
again qualify for an Environmental Award, enabling further improvements to our
church grounds.

Both Orry and Henry are long-serving members of the choir, and we are very
grateful for their initiative and leadership.
