Music is at the heart of our worship, with a strong choral tradition and weekly services of Eucharist and weekly Choral Evensong and regular concerts by ourselves and visiting choirs (see here). Whether you wish to listen within the congregation or a singer, you are very welcome.
As well as a very popular community choir at the Old Church there are several large Parish Church choirs who maintain a cathedral-style repertoire and regularly tour in the UK and overseas.
We are proud to say that our choirs are among the largest and best of any parish in England. In 2024, the Choir sang for Mass in S. Maria Maggiore and S. Peter’s Rome and sang the week’s services in Norwich Cathedral in August. In August this year we sang the services in Salisbury Cathedral. Recordings are available on application to the Director of Music.
All the choirs offer opportunities for dedicated people who love music and enjoy singing. If you would like to know more please contact Mike Emerson, the Director of Music. We always welcome boys and girls who enjoy singing – see Sing with us!
The choir has recorded various CDs over the years which can be purchased. Click here to view our recordings.
