Celebrating 175 Years of ‘A Church that Sings’

In 2019 the Parish Church is 175 years young To celebrate our heritage as 'A Church that Sings' we will be organising a range of  activities and embarking on the largest renovation and redecoration that we have ever seen.  The first phase, which we are already in, sees £330,000 of surveying, roof and stone repairs, minor re-ordering and a total paint-removal and will be completed next Spring.   To celebrate our birthday we have been awarded £250K pounds by the Heritage Lottery Fund for the first of the  phases of works and to

Welcome our new Curate

Come along and welcome (Fr) Lee Taylor, new full time Assistant Curate for the Parish.  Lee was born in Wales moving to Basildon with his family at 3 growing up there and in Wickford.  Lee’s previous career was in Local Government, working in libraries, and supporting councillors and leadership teams.  These roles were great for working with people and gaining leadership and management skills. He grew up in the Pentecostal tradition and did his initial theological and ministerial training there, gaining a BA and MA.  He started attending St John the
