Celebrating 175 Years of ‘A Church that Sings’
In 2019 the Parish Church is 175 years young
To celebrate our heritage as ‘A Church that Sings’ we will be organising a range of activities and embarking on the largest renovation and redecoration that we have ever seen. The first phase, which we are already in, sees £330,000 of surveying, roof and stone repairs, minor re-ordering and a total paint-removal and will be completed next Spring.
To celebrate our birthday we have been awarded £250K pounds by the Heritage Lottery Fund for the first of the phases of works and to fund activities celebrating the Parish’s built heritage. And we have just been awarded additional grants of £10k by the London Over the Border Fund and £3.5K by Allchurches Trust.
A further phase of repairs and redecoration is being planned and a much larger series of funding bids are in the offing. One hope is that this may be able to incorporate and extend the current plans for the Vestry Hall, Choir School, and is likely to include a much greater funding element for associated activities. Building works and associated activity programmes will be planned and commence soon and there is some money to raise ourselves, for which bids will be prepared immediately.
